Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is Talk in French?

Talk in French started as a blog catering to French language learners. Created by Frédéric BIBARD, a Parisian who taught French for several years in different countries, Talk in French soon grew to offer e-books, paperback books, audiobooks, podcasts, and eventually, online courses.

The main goal of Talk in French learning resources is to help you build an effective learning habit and make French enjoyable and within reach for learners of all ages.

How do the courses work?

We offer different courses for different levels and for different areas of learning. Simply enroll in the course that suits you best. Each lesson in the courses is designed to be taken each day to facilitate habit formation. However, if the one lesson/day setup does not work for you, you are free to access the lessons at your most convenient time.

Do I need the internet to use Talk in French?

If you wish to access the Talk in French courses or the blog, yes, you will need to be connected to the internet. However, once you have enrolled in the course(s), you may download a copy of the offline version of the course (e-book format) which can be accessed on any device even without the internet.

My course is missing. How do I find it?

If you have bought a course from Talk in French but for some reason it does not show up in Your Profile, please do the following steps.

Step 1: Check your email and make sure that you received a confirmation email for your purchase.

There may be a possibility that you used a different email address. Kindly check your other email addresses, too.

If you were not able to receive any confirmation email despite multiple double checking on your part, it could indicate that your purchase did not go through.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

In the log in page, click “Lost your password?”

You will then be asked to reset your password:

Follow the instructions until you are able to re login using the new password.

How do I track my progress in the course?

In the course homepage, you can check the progress bar where the equivalent percentage of the course you have taken will be reflected.

Take note that the lessons may be taken in any order and your progress will still be tracked. But it is highly recommended that you follow the sequence provided.

In lessons that contain quizzes, you need to complete all the quizzes first before you will be able to complete each lesson.

Important note to course takers of the Complete Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced courses:

We offer writing exercises that are personally being reviewed and given feedback by myself, Frederic Bibard. Once the essays are reviewed and approved, the writing exercise will be marked as completed. So if your essay is not yet received and corrected, the lesson will not be considered complete by the system.

Where can I access the corrected essays?

I will personally leave comments in the essay section of the course. You should be able to receive a notification in your email inbox and from there click on the “permalink” and you will be able to view the feedback and corrections.

You may also be able to access your previous essays in Your Profile. You can check your essays and their corresponding feedback there.

In general, I will correct the error(s) in red and provide an alternative to your sentence in green font. In most cases, your sentence may be grammatically correct but it can sound more natural with the alternative sentence written in the green font.

Can I download an offline version of the course?

Yes in most courses you should be able to see the first module called “offline materials” where you can get the downloadable version of your course. We are about to simplify the system to make it even easier. A print version and an e-book version/audiobook version will be provided as well whenever applicable.

Can I resubmit an essay?

We limit the number of submissions per quiz, but if you think you sent your essay by mistake, just contact us at contact@talkinfrench.com.

Can I retake a quiz?

Yes you do have an option to retake the quiz and each time, your new score will be reflected.  But for learning purposes, my advice is to take note of your errors and try to do better in the succeeding quizzes.

How can I get a refund for a course I bought?

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all our courses. Learn all about the Refund Policy here.

Where can I download the audio for the paperback book or e-book I bought?

In each e-book/paperback, you will be provided with instructions on where to download the audio. You will find the link at the last page of the e-book/ paperback. Please check it there.

How to download the audio?

Please take note that the audio is in MP3 format and needs to be accessed online.

Here's how to download it:

On your computer, smartphone, iphone/ipad or tablet, type the link provided on the book you purchased from us (found on the last page of the book).

The link will give you two options:

1. a direct link where you can listen to the audio and download it immediately, and

2. a link to download the files via Dropbox.

Take note that if you want an easier way to access the files using any type of device (including iOS), choose the direct link option. But if you are a Dropbox user who wants to access the files on your Dropbox account, you can also use the Dropbox option as an alternative.

Here’s how to download using the two different options:

Method 1: Get the audio via Direct Link

  • In the link provided, choose the DIRECT LINK option.
  • Proceed to the page and listen to the audio directly or download it to any device.

Method 2: Download the audio files via Dropbox

  • After selecting the Dropbox option on the page, you will see the MP3 files saved in a Dropbox folder.
  • Locate the DOWNLOAD button on the Dropbox folder or save it to your own Dropbox so you can access the audio on connected devices.
  • The files you have downloaded would be saved in a .zip file. Simply extract these files from the .zip folder, save to your computer or copy to your preferred devices. If your smartphone or tablet has a zip file extractor, you can download it immediately onto your device.

If you have issues with downloading the audio, feel free to send an email to contact@talkinfrench.com. We'll do our best to assist you, but it would be greatly appreciated if you thoroughly review the instructions first.
